Lindsey’s Running Challenge

If you think running one race is a challenge, then imagine taking on a race every month!

That’s what Lindsey Underhill has decided to do! Each month throughout 2018 she will be taking on events such as Carsington Water 10k, Stafford Half Marathon and Derby 10k.

Lindsey is the Office Administrator at the the Guildhall Shopping Centre and she explains “Having set myself a personal challenge of taking part in a 10k race every month in 2018 I have extended that challenge to help raise money for my employer’s chosen charity of the year.”

Lindsey has set herself a target of raising £500 for CCPA and you can follow her progress on her dedicated Facebook page.

CCPA Families’ open new toy shop in Stafford

Families supported by CCPA were treated to a very special morning, recently, when they helped open a new toy shop in Stafford.

Ahead of the grand opening on Saturday 11th November, The Entertainer in the Guildhall Shopping Centre, Stafford, hosted a special trolley dash. Lottie and Freddie, were able to pick out their favourite toys and take them home. They then joined Stafford’s mayor, Cllr Aidan Godfrey to cut the ribbon and officially open the store.

Kim, Lottie’s mum explains

“Lottie was invited, alongside another little boy whose brother is being treated at Stoke, by the lovely Rachael Olley at the CCPA charity to help open the new entertainer store in Stafford with the Mayor. This little celeb is now a professional ribbon cutter having opened the big next store a few months ago so she wasn’t phased a bit!

The bit she was nervous for was the one-minute trolley dash they offered her!

Imagine being a kid and getting to run riot in a toy shop AND keep the stuff! She was worried she wouldn’t know what to pick or that she couldn’t move fast enough but after a browse around before hand and several staff following her throwing stuff in behind her, she did unbelievably well!

She had an absolute ball, as did her sisters. She has made a pile to donate to the oncology Day room at the hospital, too.

It was a pretty great morning and we were also taken out for breakfast afterwards to celebrate.

Thank you so much to The Childhood Cancer Parents Alliance for this wonderful experience, it’s one we will never forget.”
