The International Society of Paediatric Oncology (SIOP) is the global professional organisation for doctors and nurses specialising in research and treatment of childhood cancer. Childhood Cancer International is a global network of more than 180 parent led charities in 90+ countries.
SIOP and CCI hold a joint annual World Congress for focused learning, debate, collaboration and development. This is one of the most important events in the paediatric oncology calendar, attracting more than 2,000 medical professionals, child life specialists, charity workers and families from around the world. The congress is held in a different global region each year. Continental congresses also take place to focus on region-specific priorities.

2012 World Congress – London
We were delighted to serve as the local parent/survivor organization host of the 2012 World Congress. This was the first time London had hosted the event. Our Chair served on the Local Organising Committee, helping to plan and stage a hugely successful event at The Barbican that helped to showcase the UK and our CCPA groups as being at the forefront of collaboration.
We also hosted two annual congress social events for visiting parent and survivor advocates from across the globe. Our Meet & Greet at the Royal College of Surgeons library and museum welcomed 120. We laid on traditional English entertainment for 170 at the Parents Dinner, beautifully hosted at the Grand Connaught Rooms in Covent Garden.
